Bergamot
(Aurantium bergamia)
Known for its elegant, distinctive fragrance, Bergamot is believed to have originated in Southern Italy. It was a prized ornamental feature in the gardens of well-to-do families, flowering between March and May. The fruit is a hybrid of two varieties of oranges, Citrus aurantium and Citrus medica, and its peel has been used for centuries in perfumes: in fact, it was among the ingredients in the first-ever Eau de Cologne, created by German perfumier Johann Maria Farina in 1709. Today, it’s often used in aromatherapy.
Aloe Leaf
(Aloe barbadensis)
The word Aloe may be derived from the Arabic alloeh, meaning “shining, bitter substance”, which describes the clear, viscous gel stored inside the plant’s leaves to provide hydration in arid climates. This gel gives Aloe Vera leaf extract its reputation for cooling, moisturizing, and soothing the skin.
